"There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened."

After many trips to the airport and Amtrack everyone has gone home. I miss them already. I thought I'd share some of the things I learned during the past two weeks.
Wiki Waki Woo Recipe A Wiki Waki Woo is a tropical cocktail made with orange juice, cranberry juice, orange juice, vodka, rum, tequila, Amaretto, and orange flavored liqueur. It is served in a tall glass and usually garnished with a cherry and a slice of pineapple. Wiki Waki Woo Ingredients # 1/2 ounce Vodka # 1 ounce White Rum # 1/2 ounce Tequila # 1/2 ounce Triple Sec # 1 ounce Amaretto # 1 ounce Orange Juice # 1 ounce Pineapple Juice # 1 ounce Cranberry Juice Wiki Waki Woo Instructions Combine all ingredients with ice and pour into a tall glass. Serve with a straw and garnished with a slice of pineapple and a cherry. Hurricane Recipe A Hurricane is a tropical drink made with two kinds of rum, orange juice, and lime juice. Variations sometimes include other ingredients such as Galliano, pineapple juice, bitters, and grenedine. One of these Hurricane Recipes is garnished with two cherries and an orange slice. HURRICANE RECIPE # Ingredients 1 ounce dark rum # 1 ounce light rum # 1/2 ounce Galliano # 3/4 ounce fresh lime juice # 1 ounce passion fruit syrup # 1-1/2 ounce orange juice # 1-1/2 ounce pineapple juice # Dash of Angostura Bitters # Fresh tropical fruit for garnish # Ice Instructions Shake all ingredients together and pour into a hurricane glass filled with ice. Garnish with tropical fruit.

Transfer the marinade to a large, wide bowl. Add the shrimp and turn to coat. Cover and refrigerate for about 2 hours, turning occasionally. Prepare a barbecue (medium-high heat). Thread 3 shrimp onto each of 6 skewers. Grill shrimp until just cooked through, basting with marinade, about 2 minutes per side. Kennedy Space Center
Kennedy Space Center Tour: Included with admission and takes you to the International Space Station Center, LC 39 Observation Gantry, and the Apollo/Saturn V Center. Departs every 15 minutes from the Visitor Complex. Sunburn The pain and burning associated with a sunburn can be relieved with a number of different remedies applied to the burn site. The skin can be hydrated by applying topical products containing Aloe vera and/or vitamin E, which reduce inflammation. Hydrocortisone cream may also help reduce inflammation and itching. Avoid the use of benzocaine, lidocaine, and butter; these are false remedies which can prevent healing and damage skin but relieve pain. When treating open sores caused by a sunburn, like any other open skin wound, it is best to avoid lotions or other directly-applied ointments. However, antibacterial solutions and gauze can prevent skin infections. How To: Cure A Hangover

"Two years ago, President Bush declared that America was addicted to oil, and, by gosh, he was going to do something about it. Well, now he has. Now we have the new Bush energy plan: Get more addicted to oil. Actually, it's more sophisticated than that: Get Saudi Arabia, our chief oil pusher, to up our dosage for a little while and bring down the oil price just enough so the renewable energy alternatives can't totally take off. Then try to strong arm Congress into lifting the ban on drilling offshore and in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. It's as if our addict-in-chief is saying to us: 'C'mon guys, you know you want a little more of the good stuff. One more hit, baby. Just one more toke on the ole oil pipe. I promise, next year, we'll all go straight. I'll even put a wind turbine on my presidential library. But for now, give me one more pop from that drill, please, baby. Just one more transfusion of that sweet offshore crude." It is hard for me to find the words to express what a massive, fraudulent, pathetic excuse for an energy policy this is. But it gets better. The president actually had the gall to set a deadline for this drug deal:..." But, most of all, this deadline is from a president who hasn't lifted a finger to broker passage of legislation that has been stuck in Congress for a year, which could actually impact America's energy profile right now -- unlike offshore oil that would take years to flow -- and create good tech jobs to boot. That bill is H.R. 6049 -- "The Renewable Energy and Job Creation Act of 2008," which extends for another eight years the investment tax credit for installing solar energy and extends for one year the production tax credit for producing wind power and for three years the credits for geothermal, wave energy and other renewables.
Smoking May Ease Anger And Anxiety, Acting As Trigger

Smoking May Ease Anger And Anxiety
"The researchers found that both men and women were more likely to smoke when they were angry, but the effect was stronger in men. Women also were more likely to smoke when they were happy, while men were not. The subjects in this study were more likely to smoke when they were sad, with the effect stronger in men than women. Both men and women were twice as likely to smoke when anxious. The study results also suggested that the men obtained an immediate but short-lived calming of their anger when they smoked. This may be due to metabolic effects of nicotine in the brain. Smoking-cessation and preventive interventions may require new methods that teach anger and stress management as well as broader aspects of effective emotional regulation, the researchers say. The differences between the genders in emotional triggers of smoking should be taken into account, they say. If smoking cues and reinforcing effects differ in men and women, smoking-cessation interventions may require some level of gender-specificity if they are to succeed. "

"The nuances of Titarenko's prints convey solitude and arrested motion, the blurred effect of long exposures and the camera's intentional movement... The photographs are driven by an intense interest in the esthetics of the image."
